part 52: (hanzalah)

**”Bismillahir rahmaanir raheem”
-in the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful-**

The hospital was terribly full and chaotic but they managed to get a bed for naseema in the general ward.

The doctor suggested that a few tests should be run and an ECG be done. But for now naseemas blood pressure had been stabilised.

Hanzalah had to stay at home with habeeba as they were quite strict at the hospital. They wouldn’t allow habeeba in anyway and it would just make things more complicated and stressful.

Naseema was basically just having another panic attack and her blood pressure was shooting up to extreme levels.

This type of stressing wasn’t too good for the cancer either.

“We suggest that you stay for 2-3 days so that we can do all the tests and besides, it will be good for you. You need the time out to just relax and take it easy. We’ve actually had to sedate you because you seem to be panicking a lot.” The doctor explained to naseema and abdullah.

Abdullah nodded in agreement.

“But…” Naseema began to protest.

Abdullah shook his head and put his hand on her shoulder.. “No jaan… No buts… You’re staying this time around. ”

Naseema sighed.

She was put on a drip as she was sort of weak. And her blood pressure and pulse was being monitored regularly.

Abdullah visited during visiting hours but hanzalah and habeeba stayed at home most of the time.

Naseema was okay in the beginning because she was in a ward with only 2 beds and the other bed was empty. She hated having to share a room with someone else. It would just make things terribly awkward and difficult considering the size of the room.

the nurses wheeled naseema back to her room after they had done a few scans early the next morning. She just got comfortable when a few nurses entered the room. She thought that they were going to start something else but instead they closed the curtain beside her.

She could hear quite abit of movements on the other side of the curtain and it seemed like they’d just wheeled another patient into her room.

She sighed heavily and felt abit agitated. But then she calmed down and busied herself in sending praises to nabi mohammed (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam).

It was the best thing to calm her down. She felt happy and at peace.

Naseema seemed to have dosed off for a while with all the medication. And when she woke up, the curtain next to her bed was open. There was a young white girl laying on her side, almost lifeless on the bed with tubes and a drip attached to her.

“Why didn’t they put her in the paediatric ward?” One of the nurses asked the other in a hushed tone as they were scribbling in the files infront of them.

“It was full. Its been so quiet for the past 2 months, and suddenly since last week its been crazy again. Besides, they say that she’s not so much a child anymore, so it would be okay to bring her here.” The nurse being questioned replied.

“Poor kid.. She’s lucky to be alive though.. She swallowed about 30 allergex tablets and about 20 other pills like stilpane, plasmoquine and prednisone and some aspirin also.” The nurse shook her head and sighed.

“She was almost in a comatose state. Luckily they managed to pump put whatever they could from her little body.” She continued to explain in a low tone not realising that naseema was awake and listening.

Why would such a young girl take so much of medication? Naseema thought. She immediately felt sorry for her. She could never imagine hanzalah doing something like that and she didn’t know what she would ever do if he did.

Naseema looked at the child next to her. The nurses realised that she was awake and terminated their conversation. They finished up with the files and left the room.

The girl opened her eyes and her gaze immediately met naseemas.

Naseema smiled a genuine smile and thought that the girl was smiling back at her. But actually, she wasn’t. She just had a gorgeous face with a cleft on the one side that made it seem like she was smiling back…
